Nine fits and three rises of womens jeans, from Spray On Xtra to the Barrel Jean, sitting in one grid. Use the pills above to cut it down: pick the leg first, then the rise, then the wash. YOUR FIT. SORTED ++
SIX LEGS, ONE GRID
The pill row above is the fastest way through this page. Six legs, three rises, and every jean below is one of each. Most people pick the leg first and argue about the rise afterwards.
The leg is the real decision. A skinny reads as a line. A barrel reads as a shape. A wide leg changes what you can wear on your feet. None of them is the safer choice, which is the point of running all six rather than a house cut.
Wash is the second pass. Nightfall, Jet Black and Boneyard Black at the dark end, Authentik and True Vintage worked harder, Frenchie Blue and Horizon lighter. Same fits, different reads entirely.
How the legs differ:
- Skinny, Spray On and Spray On Xtra. Closest to the leg from hip to hem.
- Straight, The Brooklyn, a mom-style straight leg cut clean through the thigh.
- Flared, The Soho Lo, a mid rise bootleg flare that opens below the knee.
- Barrel, Vixen Spliced and Carpenter Black. Out at the hip, collapsing at the ankle.
Six legs, three rises. When it warms up, women's denim shorts run the same thinking shorter.
RISE IS THE OTHER HALF
Leg gets all the attention and rise decides how the jean actually sits. Low, mid and high are filters of their own here, and the same silhouette in a different rise is a different jean on.
The other question worth asking before you commit is how the denim behaves. Rigid denim brings its own shape and breaks in with wear. Comfort stretch gives ease without losing the intended fit. Which of the two a style uses changes how it feels in a month, so it is worth knowing before you choose.
Three rises, and what each one changes:
- Low rise, sits below the hip bone. The Y2K read, and the hardest of the three to judge from a photograph.
- Mid rise, the rise most jeans already use, and the safest place to start when you are unsure.
- High rise, takes the waist up and changes the proportion of everything worn with it, shoes included.
If the rise is the thing you cannot judge from a photograph, the size guide settles it before you buy.
What is the difference between low rise, mid rise and high rise?
Rise is where the waistband sits. Low rise sits below the hip bone, mid rise sits where most jeans already sit, and high rise takes it above. The same leg in a different rise is a different jean on.
Which leg should I choose?
Skinny stays closest to the leg, straight runs clean from hip to hem, flared opens below the knee, barrel curves out at the hip and collapses at the ankle, and baggy and wide sit widest of all. Choose on the shape you want.
Do Ksubi jeans have stretch in them?
It depends on the denim. Rigid denim brings its own shape and breaks in with wear. Comfort stretch gives ease without losing the intended fit. Both run through this collection.
What are the Brooklyn and the Soho?
The Brooklyn is a straight leg in a mom-style cut. The Soho is a mid rise bootleg flare. They are the two ends of the shape range this page is built around.
