Every pair of men's skinny jeans here is a Van Winkle. One silhouette, worked across rip and repair, 4x4 embroidery ghost patching and washes that run from clean to heavily worked. Choose the wash, the fit is already settled. YOUR CUT. YOUR RULES ++
ONE SILHOUETTE, WORKED OVER
The Van Winkle is the whole grid. Skinny through the thigh, tapered to the ankle, cut in comfort stretch denim so it holds the line without locking you into it.
What changes is the wash and the finish. Black Rebel and Blakk Metal sit at the clean end of black. Powder Grey and Graphite Anguish take grey in two directions. Re-Up Blue, Duke Blue, Dakota Blue Repair and Paint Summer Blue run the blue range from flat to heavily worked.
Then the finishing. Rip and repair on the Repair washes, 4x4 embroidery ghost patching across the range, Backstage and Kstellar Genesis carrying the harder treatments. Same jean underneath, a different argument each time about what it should look like.
Reading the wall of washes:
- Clean blacks, Black Rebel and Blakk Metal. Flat, dark, the least worked thing on the rail.
- Two greys, Powder Grey and Graphite Anguish. One soft, one dragged through the finishing.
- Blues, flat to worked, Re-Up Blue and Duke Blue at one end, Dakota Blue Repair and Angst Trashed at the other.
- Rip and repair, the Repair washes arrive with the tears already mended, at the stage most denim takes years to reach.
Pick the wash. The fit is not the variable here.
SKINNY, OR SLIM?
Skinny and slim are not the same jean, and the difference lives at the ankle. Skinny stays close the whole way down, hip to hem, one continuous line. Slim keeps a cut leg through the thigh and then gives you room at the bottom.
That one difference decides most of it. If you wear a heavier boot, or you want the jean to break over the shoe rather than stop dead at it, slim is the one. If you want the leg uninterrupted, reading as a line rather than a shape, stay on skinny.
Both sit inside Ksignature, the fit system that runs skinny, straight leg, flared, barrel leg, baggy, wide leg and relaxed. Skinny is the tightest of the seven and the Van Winkle is how Ksubi cuts it, which is why the grid above is one name over and over. If the ankle is the only thing you would change, men's slim fit jeans is the next rail along rather than a different jean altogether.
Not sure which of the seven you are? The men's fit guide runs them in order, leg first.
What is the difference between skinny and slim fit jeans?
Skinny stays close from hip to hem. Slim keeps the cut through the thigh and leaves more room at the ankle. If you want the jean to break over a boot rather than stop at it, slim is the one.
Is the Van Winkle the only skinny Ksubi cuts for men?
It is the silhouette this collection is built on. Every pair here is a Van Winkle, and what changes between them is the wash and the finish rather than the cut.
Do these have any stretch in them?
The range is cut in comfort stretch denim, which gives ease without losing the intended fit.
How do the washes differ?
They group into blue, black, grey and white, and move from clean to heavily worked. Black Rebel and Blakk Metal sit at the clean end, while Angst Trashed and the Repair washes are the most worked.
